It's Been a Little While

Yo, What's up my fellow bloggers?
I don't actually know if anybody follows me, I haven't checked, but I know it has been a LONG time since I made a post.
So, what's been happening in the life of Harley since last post?
I have a job in pathology as a Phlebotomist
"What is a Phlebotomist?", I hear you asking. Well, let's see what we can learn:

"

Phlebotomists are individuals trained to draw blood from a live person or animal.

Phlebotomists collect blood primarily by performing venipuncture and, for collection of minute quantities of blood, fingersticks. Blood may be collected from infants by means of a heel stick. Specially trained phlebotomists collect arterial blood samples from the radial artery of the wrist or brachial artery in the antecubital area (bend in the arm) for arterial blood gas test." - courtesy of our good friend, Wikipedia ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phlebotomist )

Alternatively, we could use this one:
"The medical professional who steals the blood from your veins. (Aka, a real-life vampire)

That phlebotomist told me she couldn't get any blood from me because my vein kept rolling. (FYI, veins CANNOT roll)" - from Urban Dictionary ( http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=phlebotomist )

By the way, veins certainly CAN roll.

Other than having a job, there's really not much new, though I am more tired and worn out than I was previously.

Note: I should probably choose to actually do something on this blog, and edit it more than once every couple of years.

I can't believe this profile is still alive.

So, today my brother got his HSC results, and I thought "hey, I vaguely remember blogging mine way back when". So I thought I'd check it out. When I found it, I couldn't even remember how to post a new blog, I haven't posted one since February 2008.

Well it turns out he's done better then me so far, which is a good thing, because I really didn't do that well.

Since my last blog I got a job in a small camping store in bathurst, I joined St John Ambulance as a volunteer, and I went through nearly two years of uni. Earlier this semester I left uni, it was a mutual decision between the uni and I due to our disagreement on the topic of ever handing in assessment tasks. And just to top it all off, the store where I worked shut down, and my dad had a prolapsed disk in his neck and had to get a spinal fusion.
Because of all of the above, I decided to move back to Mount Druitt. This meant that I didn't need to worry bout rent and I could help my family out with dad's recovery, which I have to say is going very well.

My job searching however, isn't. I currently have about ten dollars to my name, but that doesn't matter, because I don't really need money at the moment. The problem is, all the places down here hired a bunch of people about a week before I moved, so there are no job vacancies whatsoever.

Anyway, I just felt like blogging for old times' sake, so you may or may not here from me again, lol.

Merry Christmas and a happy new year to all you people out there.

Monday, February 4, 2008

well, that didn't last long.

Guess what guys, I'm going to Uni!
I got into B Justice Studies (Policing) at Bathurst.

I know it's been a while since my last post, I kind of failed at my intention to blog regularly. Oh well, what can you do?

We're moving on the 9th of February, I say we because I am living with a good friend of mine and someone else who I hope will be a good friend soon. We have accomodation at a place owned by the Baptist church, hopefully we can find a good church there too.

Anyway, I wish you all good luck in whatever your future holds, whether it's university or a job, or something else altogether.

Christmas

Well, we had both sides of the family over for chrissy this year and preparation was hectic. There were 15 people for lunch, and they arrived late so they were still here when the other 30 people arrived for dinner.
It was good to see my reletives again as some of them live far away and we don't see them much.

Something good has come out of my UAI already. One of my cousins bet five dollars that I did better than her, and she beat me by two (57), so I'm $5 richer.

The Big Day

Well, UAI has come out and I have to say "OUCH!".
I knew I could never write essays very well and my school rankings showed that but looking at my HSC marks in my previous post there is no way you would guess my UAI.

NSW UAI: 55.00

There you go. I guess I'm going to have to get a job.

Boredom

Isn't it funny what boredom can force you into? I've been reading books by authors we studied in English, and I find myself critically analysing the story and characters. It's sad.

I decided a while ago (before HSC exams) that I would compile a big glossary of all the terms I know so that I could use it to find fancy words for essays. I find myself so bored that I may keep doing it anyway. I'll post it here somewhere.

I'm also designing a Mount Druitt Community Calendar. It gives me something to do. Maybe I'll post some of that too.
